Waiting, waiting, and more waiting

If you've been wondering what is up with Pebbles lately the answer is...nothing! Pebbles is keeping us all on pins and needles as she casually carries on living the pampered life. Every day, 3 to 4 times a day, I am checking her udder, her vulva, and her ever widening belly. I'm pretty sure that Pebbles thinks I'm crazy but she is being pretty good about the endless peep show. So here we are, the hostage situation continues and negotiations are at a standstill. Every morning I am greeted with Pebbles anxiously looking for breakfast. She eats every last crumb with enthusiasm and then she waddles herself out to the far end of her pasture for a nice nap in the sun. Some where around 10am she wanders back in to the barn to get a drink and enjoy her alfalfa and orchard grass hay. Thankfully mother nature has decided to finally give Maryland a break from the non stop rain and things have dried up. While I would love for Pebbles to foal in her stall as planned the current temps and ground conditions would also be perfectly fine.

I have been reminding myself on the daily that patience is a virtue. We are still almost 3 weeks away from when I predicted that she would foal and in horse so much can happen in 3 weeks! If there is anything predictable about foaling out a mare it is that they are very unpredictable, lol. So here I am, watching and waiting. This weekend is daylight savings time so I will have another hour of daylight to work with and for a horse person that is a blessing. Warmer nights are appreciated to when I am dragging myself out for those late night checks. What's not appreciated is the mosquitos I saw flying around yesterday! Seriously!
